Meet

Dr. Deb

Not to toot my own horn but ...toot! I am a pioneer in the field of culinary medicine. I am able to do this because I have a PhD in nutrition from Tufts University, I am also a chef, educator, author, inventor and policy advisor. I had the honor of serving as the first Chair for Best Practices at the Teaching Kitchen Collaborative (CIA) and was an Instructor in Culinary Nutrition at the New England Culinary Institute.

I love food for many reasons but the main one is that I think it is the universal tool to connect us to ourselves, to each other and to the planet, based on our choices. I started cooking at the age of four, worked in a bakery throughout high school, and eventually became a sous chef in Canada.

I have studied the way people learn and change their behavior for decades. I bring this modular approach to everything I do so that I make it easy for you to integrate into your own life. I have created easy to follow master-recipes so that you become the creator of your own meals. You get to choose the ingredients based on what you have on hand.

I never stopped loving to cook. I find the kitchen to be my Zen place to this day. I don’t expect others to love it the way I do, but I hope to teach you how to truly nourish yourself and yes...that does start in the kitchen.  I know food can heal and prevent disease and I want to help you do that!

I also want to help innovative practitioners and healthcare institutions to use the science based method in the Food Coach Academy to transform the health of their patients, I want home cooks – cooking for a family member with an illness– to nourish their family members, I want community members that are dedicated to improving the health of their fellow community members to teach them how to cook so that they have power over their health, I want cooks and chefs to use their magical powers to transform healthy food into cravable food to nourish their patrons.

I have dedicated my career to helping people improve their health through food. My mission is to use the power of food to transform health, one delicious bite at a time. Please join me as a fellow food-warrior.
