I was out to dinner the other night and something happened and it took me a while to put my thoughts together. But when someone found out that I was into culinary medicine, he said to me,
“Ah, let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”
Wasn't that brilliant? And I said,
“That don't impress me much.”
And he got offended.
What Did I Mean By That?
And it took me a while to figure out what it is I meant by that and what I mean by that is:
every indigenous culture
every mother
every naturopath
every midwife
every herbalist
knew that to be true, probably since the beginning of time, but their voices weren't heard, but
Hippocrates says it.
Whammo!
Was Hippocrates Really That Brilliant?
We have been led to believe he's the brilliant one who came up with the concept that food is medicine and medicine can be food.
That's not how it was.
The power of food has always and will always be in all of our hands.
Doesn't matter where you come from.
Doesn't matter how much money you make.
Doesn't matter what language you speak, what you look like.
It doesn't matter.
None of that matters.
We all have to eat
And if you really want to nourish others, then join me in teaching others how to cook, how to make healthy food, delicious food.
It belongs to us. It doesn't belong to the clinicians. It belongs to us.
So please join me.
